He served as an adjunct instructor of Christian preaching and dp-landscape-small-1024x682pastoral ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky from 2006-2011, and currently serves on the faculty as Assistant Professor of Christian Preaching since 2012. David is the author of In the Arena: The Promise of Sports for Christian Discipleship (coming in September 2016, The Church with Jesus as the Hero, and Jesus the Hero Family Devotional. David is a graduate of Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama where he received a B.A. (1991) and played on the baseball team. He received a M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas (1997). He completed his Ph.D. at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky (2011). The central labor and passion of David’s life and ministry is preaching Christ. He is committed to Christ-centered, Kingdom-focused expository preaching. His goal is to treasure Christ together with the community of believers at Ashland Avenue and to declare His supremacy in all things to the ends of the earth. David has been married to Judi since 1992 and God has blessed them with eight children. The three oldest are boys and the five youngest are girls.
